The tour includes a visit to the small pearls of the Umbria region.
ORVIETO – the town is one of the pearls of the area and is located halfway between Rome and Florence. A unique city perched high on the cliffs, which in ancient times has endured attacks thanks to the ingenuity and industriousness of its inhabitants. The town itself is a fortress without any walls. Underneath it there’s a vast network of caves, carved out to be used as storehouses, refrigerators, chicken coops, as well as foraging for water during enemy raids.

A unique cathedral has been built in the town center, much like the one in Siena, and inside we can see the unique frescoes of Luca Signorelli, Gentile da Fabriano and many other artists working between Tuscany and Umbria.

The cuisine and the white wine are also very interesting and can be tasted.

Passing along the shores of Lake Trasimeno, we will quickly reach Assisi.

Assisi, a glorious city in the Umbria region, has given the world one of the most famous Christian saints – St. Francis (San Francesco). Among its attractions are the huge religious center of the Pellegrini (pilgrims), monasteries, a cathedral, churches and frescoes, works by the founder of humanism in painting, Giotto di Bondone and his students and followers. We will merge religion with art and see Assisi’s part and role in Bulgaria’s recent history.

SPOLETTO is an interesting fortress town with an ancient history and a remarkable religious center. We will see the bridge over the towers located between Montelucco and Mount Elia, which is a structure from the early 14th century. The Duomo di Spoleto Cathedral preserves frescoes by Pinturicchio and the Florentine Filippo Lippi, representatives of the Renaissance, there’s a 12th century cross and a letter signed by St. Francis. Nearby are also the Roman amphitheater and the Casca delle Marmore waterfall. The town hosts an annual summer festival of the two worlds (Festival dei due mondi), bringing together some of the world’s most famous artists.
